Troubleshooting

Creasers

Motor is running continuously.

If the crease relay sticks the creaser motor will run continuously. You can tap the relay and it will usually work again but relay should be replaced.

Motor is running but the crease bar will not move.

The crease motor is a geared motor. If the gears strip you can hear the motor running but the crease bar will not move. Replace the crease motor.

Creasing is inconsistent.

Check the belts for serviceability, no loss of teeth and in good shape. Check the pulley for serviceability and insure they are tight on the shaft. Check for binding on all shafts. Check for binding in the crease bearings.

First crease is in the correct location, but the following creases are not.

Check the lower crease bar in insure the wide slot is being used. If the narrow slot is used with heavy paper the paper can get stuck in the slot for a very short time but enough time to allow the paper to slip causing inconsistent creasing.

Numbering Heads

Numbers are sticking.

Clean the numbering head wheel set by soaking in Simple Green or other like cleaner. Use a tooth brush to scrub the wheels of the wheelset then blow out with compressed air. Cleaning should be completed on a regular basis.

Numbers are not advancing.

Make sure the numbering head is not adjusted too low so as to not allow a complete stroke of the wheel set. If the wheel set does not make a complete stroke it will not advance.

Check the indicator for missing teeth. The teeth on the indicator trip the wheel set causing it to advance.

Check the indicator springs for serviceability. If a spring breaks the wheelset will not advance.

Air Pressure

Air numbering head pressure should not exceed 50 PSI or this will cause premature wear to the numbering head.
